I went into “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2” with low expectations. Maybe that improved my experience, because this sequel is actually a lot of fun.

While the character designs were the biggest flaw of the first film, they are probably the biggest standout in this installment. The look of Pooh specifically is an impressive improvement, as you can buy into his menacing nature this time around. Owl, Piglet and Tigger all look great as well.

“Blood and Honey 2” puts Christopher Robin at the center of the story. He goes on an actual journey in this film, and it all comes back to him in the end. The first movie sort of threw his character aside, and while he feels like an afterthought in moments here, it was refreshing to see an attempt at giving him a character arc. It even plays around with a few different ideas were unexpected.

“Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2” takes itself fairly seriously in the first two-thirds, with bits and pieces of camp. It fully embraces its silly nature in the final act, and those are the best moments. The gore goes off the rails, with Pooh and his companions stealing the spotlight. After all of the violence, however, the ending itself feels slightly anticlimactic.

The film is also shot very well, and does a good job of utilizing different locations and lighting techniques.

“Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2” is campy, goofy and most of all dumb. At the same time, it embraces all of those elements and is a lot of fun.
