Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Foul Review — A warm welcome to a new generation of fans

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Foul follows the titular duo as Gromit’s concern that Wallace has become over-dependent on his inventions proves justified when Wallace invents a smart gnome that develops a mind of its own.

There is nothing quite like Wallace and Gromit. Being able to re-enter this world in 2025 was a blast and had me grinning for the entire 79-minute runtime.

With so many visual changes in film from the advancements of technology, it’s good to see a franchise that remains pure to its roots. While there are very evident improvements in the detailing of character designs and animations, this still feels like good old Wallace and Gromit.

As with each installment, you just have to respect and admire all of the care and effort that goes into making this. Using traditional stop-motion animation with clay figures for a full-length feature film requires a tremendous amount of work that doesn’t go unnoticed. The painstaking process all paid off in the end, as this looks incredible and is a truly immersive experience because of it.

On top of being a visual spectacle, this blends in multiple different genres while being a lot of fun for people of all ages. There’s action, thrills and a lot of humor. Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Foul works on almost every level.

The story itself is engaging, with the film wasting no time. The early stages of Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Foul quickly set up the initial conflict, and it moves right into the zany and whacky adventure. There is also plenty of payoff in the final act, with incredibly animated action sequences. The return of Feathers McGraw is welcomed, though he feels slightly underutilized. I wish that he would have been a more prominent figure throughout the flick alongside Wallace’s gnome creations.

Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Foul delivers a modernized story about the potential dangers of technology. At the same time, it stays true to itself while welcoming in a new generation of fans. It saddens me that this will be restricted to only one platform as a Netflix original, but the movie itself is a phenomenal way to start 2025.
